One of the highlights for me during the Upfront season is when NBCU’s Linda Yaccarino saunters across the stage as a champion of the Television business. Broadcasters everywhere should Thank Her. Then, they should hold their heads high as she brings down the hammer on the competition. THEN, after she single-handedly re-positions Television firmly on the pedestal where it belongs, they should repeat her entire monologue to anyone who will listen.
Last year’s post on the matter noted that the Networks were finally hitting back after years of standing around with a proverbial “Kick ME” sign taped to their backs. True to form (smart, tough, determined), Ms Yaccarino kept up the full-court press by setting the stage for this entire upfront/newfront season; if you aren’t talking seriously about Brand Safety, Ad Effectiveness, Fraud and Standardized third Party Measurement, then stop wasting everybody’s time.
